smpaw Hours:

The WHS Library is officially open during the school day from 7:15 until 2:45.  Homework Hotspot is available after school in the library Monday through Thursday until the late bus at 3:15pm.  Students needing to use the library resources, finish work on a computer, get some help with homework or simply want a quiet place to work are welcome.

smpaw Study Passes:

Students may sign up for passes to use the Library when they arrive at school in the morning until 7:25 a.m. or after school for up to two days ahead.  Students must have an ID in order to get a study pass.  Sign up sheets and passes are in the Library.  A student in a study who has not had time to get a study pass and who needs to use the resources of the library may ask his/her study teacher to call the library to check on availability. There is no guarantee.  Availability will depend on the number of students/classes already signed up.  Students must also have an ID to leave their study.  Please try to plan ahead.

smpaw Resources:

The WHS Library offers students and staff a variety of educational resources both print and electronic.  There are a total of 41 networked computer workstations with Internet access for student use.

Students may use the book collection, reference sources (text and online), periodical collection, and the Internet. They may also borrow materials for research projects and recreational reading.  Through its membership in the Massachusetts Library System, The WHS Library provides access to electronic reference databases funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Students may access any of these databases (in school and at home)  from the Library page of the WHS Website.

Students who need help with a research assignment may ask the School Librarian or Library Assistant for instruction, direction, or clarification. Teachers bring classes to the Library to begin projects and to use the resources. Segments of the collection are often put on reserve for the duration of a particular assignment.  Students needing help with a research assignment should also consult the Weymouth High School Research Process document for more information.

smpaw Support the WHS Library:

The WHS Library appreciates your support.  Monetary donations are used for collection development.  We also maintain a wish list of resources if you would like to purchase a book or magazine subscription to donate.  Books may be donated in honor of a special person or event and will be marked with an appropriate bookplate.  Please contact us anytime for more information.
