Culinary Arts

The Wild Cat Café 781 337 7500 ext 25131

Culinary Arts is one of the fastest growing industries of the future.  Did you know that the foodservice industry employs 25% of the population in the United States? Are you aware of the many foodservice career opportunities? Some career opportunities include Foodservice Management, Caterer, Bakery Owner, Restaurant Owner, Executive Chef, and Dietary Nutritionist.

The Culinary Arts Program at Weymouth High School offers an intense curriculum that provides training in the techniques of food preparation, and fine pastry arts. Creativity is greatly encouraged in the shop while basic classical and modern techniques of food preparation are taught daily. Students will learn theories of food preparation along with retail and wholesale marketing of prepared foods. The Weymouth Culinary Arts Department trains students to be productive and successful employees in the foodservice industry. In addition to food preparation, students learn valuable supervisory and management skills necessary to excel in culinary arts. Students are trained to operate the most modern, innovative and up-to-date kitchen equipment. Students are taught how to use a point-of-sale computer system in the dining room, and instructed on programming the unit and running various managers reports. This puts our students on the cutting edge of the industry and one step ahead of the competition when seeking employment.

Weymouth High School juniors are given the opportunity to take the Serve Safe exam, a nationally recognized sanitation test. All of our culinary arts students are mandated to pass the 10 hour OSHA course as a prerequisite to obtain culinary certification. Culinary Arts students are encouraged to attend higher education. All seniors and juniors take part in school visits to post secondary culinary arts institutions.

Upon completion of the Culinary Arts Program at Weymouth High School, students will not only become leaders within the industry, they will be the innovators, creators, and trendsetters of the future.
