Title I Math
Welcome to Mrs. Dutton’s Math Page
Mrs. Dutton is the Title I Math Coach at the William Seach Primary School. The Math Coach’s role is to provide professional development to classroom teachers in the areas of assessment and instruction of mathematics; to provide students with opportunities to develop their math skills, problem solving strategies, and acquire an interest and desire in becoming advanced learners in mathematics; to provide students’ families with resources to assist their children with math assignments and fun family activities to achieve a love of math; and to facilitate the William Seach School’s ongoing math initiatives, such as:
- implementation of the enVisionMATH Program
- using enVisionMATH games in the classroom and on the computers
- developing basic math facts fluency through the daily use of the Fastt Math Program
- enhancing problem solving abilities through the use of Exemplars and MCAS open response problems
- integrating 21st century skills with the usage of web sites, such as, Brain POP and Brain POP Jr.
- implementation of Response to Intervention math instruction and math assessments
Math Celebrations and Events:
1/2 Day Celebration: Teachers and students will recognize the halfway point of the 2012-2013 school year by exploring one-half. Children will dress accordingly, teachers and students will read books about fractions, and there will be lots of explorations and problem solving with 1/2 and equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents. Families can find some recommended fraction books on my Math Literature page and can download a fraction worksheet to help your child identify one-half:

100th Day: Teachers and students will commemorate the 100th day of school in grades 1-4. Throughout the day students will be engaged in math and literacy activities celebrating one hundred.
