First and Second Grade.
We were outside for the majority of the term and focused on skills and game play revolving around soccer, baseball, kickball, lacrosse, and disc golf.
We started out this term working with Frisbees. Students learned how to throw, catch, and hit targets. Then students played rounds of disc golf. They played together in teams and had to learn how to score their own golf game.
Students also worked on using sticks to manipulate objects. They did this by demonstrating lacrosse skills and by playing broom hockey. We were outside for the majority of the term and focused on skills and game play revolving around soccer, baseball, kickball, lacrosse, and disc golf. We’ve had a wonderful year and I hope everyone has a happy and active summer.
Third and Fourth Grade
This term we were outside as much as possible and we focused on outdoor team sports. We started out the term learning the basic game play of ultimate Frisbee. This was made easier by learning some games associated with the game play earlier in the year. We also worked on other field games such as soccer and lacrosse.
Later in the term the students ran some obstacle courses. Then students were challenged to design their own obstacle course and present them to the class. Then the best obstacle course was featured at field day. I was very impressed with the organization and creative skills that all the students showed. We’ve had a wonderful year and I hope everyone has a happy and active summer.
