AlertNow
AlertNow is a rapid communication service provided to the district by Saf-T-Net. This service makes possible the scheduling and sending of computerized calls to Weymouth families from both the district and individual schools.
AlertNow delivers voice, e-mail and emergency SMS messages at a rate up to two million per hour – quickly keeping parents/guardians and staff informed on important and time-sensitive information. In addition to delivering routine messaging, AlertNow is a critical component to crisis planning, ensuring accurate information is communicated immediately in the event of a lockdown, relocation, evacuation or other emergency situation.
Parents now have the ability to set their own preferences for receiving AlertNow calls and emails on a new website called Alert/Now Access. On December 1, 2009, e-mails with new account information were sent to 4,755 e-mail addresses, allowing parents/guardians to set up their accounts and thus access this new feature.
In order to have an account on Alert/Now Access, parents/guardians need to provide their school with an e-mail address for at least one parent/guardian. Any parents/guardians who have not received information for their AlertNow Access individual accounts, and who would like such an account, should call their school to request that their e-mail address be put on file.
